2025 LMCA Summer Youth Program Riviera

Los Mesteños Career Academy and Riviera Telephone Company are collaborating to offer a four-week paid summer program in Career Exploration for high school students in Riviera, Texas., Students must be currently enrolled in Riviera ISD high school in the 2024-2025 school year. Participants will work from 9:00 a.m. -3:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and will be paid $9.50 per hour Chosen individuals will get the opportunity to learn about fiber optics. Participants will learn some of the following:

  • How to plan construction for fiber optic installation
  • Creating staking sheets for fiber optic installation
  • Experiencing the process of safely locating existing facilities
  • Assisting in construction jobs to install fiber optic cable
  • Learning about construction and trench safety
  • Safe practices around heavy equipment (including transport and load securement techniques)
  • Installation and preparation of fiber duct & optic cable
  • Splicing of fiber optic cable
  • Routing and storage of fiber optic cable
  • Installing and terminating network cables

Los Mesteños Career Academy and Del Mar College are collaborating to offer a four-week paid summer program in Career Exploration for Construction Trades. Students must be currently enrolled in both Brooks County and Premont ISD for the 2024-2025 school year and be current 8-9 graders.

Participants will work from 8:30 - 3:30
Monday -Thursday and will be paid $9.50 per hour

Chosen individuals will travel daily to Del Mar College in Corpus Christi to get the opportunity to learn about careers in construction.
